Decoroom was entrusted with the interior concept design for this Santa Barbara Collection home. The brief specified a place of residence that would genuinely reflect the owner’s passion for the yacht lifestyle – an enduring pastime that has grown into a symbol of the titular coastal town.

This design proved to be an enticing challenge for our design team. A home with a true Santa Barbara atmosphere would be one that evokes a sense of joyful relaxation similar to a vacation home without losing any luxury or elegance that forms the other half of the brief. Our response to the challenge was to integrate elements found in the opulent interiors of a real yacht into the decor.

Wood-trimmed veneers on the walls and ceilings deliver a pleasant contrast the backdrop of taupe silk wallpaper to create an atmosphere of open-air comfort. The kitchen serves as the centerpiece of the living space with the custom-sculpted white marble island, decorated with hand-made carvings that further accentuate its one-of-a-kind nature. The master bedroom and closet both receive special treatment in the form of additional wooden and leatherette surfaces that create an air of simple luxury through the choice of materials alone.
